Re-branding your blog can be a frustrating process. You may be considering a re-brand for a variety of reason. You may of simply out grown your original blog branding, your blog may of moved in a different direction that you originally intended or you're simply just fed up with the current design. So here are a few tips to help you through the transition.

The first step in re-branding your blog is understanding why you want to change things in the first place. Once you understand why you want to change things, you can begin to focus your mind on what your new brand should be.

Before you hit delete on everything, review what you have already. What do you like and what would you like to change? There maybe elements of your blog that you really like, for example I really liked my layout - it's simple, clean and easy to navigate, so I kept it. Just because your blog has gone in a new direction, doesn't always mean that everything you've worked on up to that point is irrelevant. 

Part the blogging journey is progressing, but also learning from your experiences, so keep this in mind when choosing what to keep and what to trash.

When presenting yourself as a brand it's important that all your social media platforms are coherentSocial media is a major driver for traffic to any site, so it's critical that people can recognize you and your brand easily.  Before changing your branding, ensure that your desired brand names are available on all social media platforms, if your name is already taken consider using underscores or a variation on the name. For example: @Ohbutdarlingblog or @ohbutdarling_ Update your profile photos, ensuring that they all align, this helps create a strong brand identity and develops trust within your brand.

So you've chosen your new brand, now you want your blog to reflect that change so you may want to update your layout. So you've re-branded and redesigned your blog, now you're ready to unveil your beautiful new site to your readers. First, consider getting some feedback on the site and brand before you launch it. So many times I've designed something that I totally love, and others don't quite agree. A fresh set of eyes often spot things that you haven't noticed or suggest something you had never thought about.

Redesigning and re-branding your blog can hard work, and can take a while to implement.
