Lifestyle | The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

The last few years I've set myself a goal of reading at least 1 book a month, and last year I smashed it! Reading 20 books in total. So now I've set the bar, my competitive nature has kicked in, and now I want to read 2 books a month this year! Yes 24 books. I'm on booking number 4 so far, so it's going well.

The second book I read in January was The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. This book was so weirdly beautiful I had to share it with you.
The Miniaturist follows Nella, a young bride in her first year of marriage in Amsterdam. After only briefly meeting her new husband, she finds herself in a new home filled with secrets.

When Nella's husband surprises her with a Miniature dolls house, a perfect replica of her new house, Nella's world begins to unravel. The secrets of her new home begin to reveal themselves as she receives her first commission for the dolls house, from an aloof miniaturist. Each piece beautifully crafted hides a prophetic message to Nella, that all isn't what it seems.

Without giving too much away, I highly recommend picking up this haunting and magical novel. I promise you, you wont put it down!
