Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hours - My top 3

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour - My top 3

We've all read hundreds of blogs on the Maybelline 24 hour color tattoos before. And we all proberbly own a few. They're certainly not new to the beauty blogging community. However I though I would just share a my Top 3 favourite shades with you!

For those of you who haven't heard of Maybelline 24 hour Color tattoos, I'll explain. Maybelline launched their range of 24 hour color tattoos last summer in UK in about 6 shades and have since released a few extras to the line. The product is a cream based eye shadow, which promises to last 24 hours without fading or creasing. The shadow can be used alone, mixed with another shade or as a base, much like a MAC paint pot.  These shadows are gorgeously pigmented and easy to use. I use my fingers as it makes quick and easy application, but you can also use a brush if you want to be a bit more precise.

65 - Pink Gold   05 - Eternal Gold   40 - Permanent Taupe

My favourite Maybelline Color Tattoo is 05 Eternal Gold, A yellow toned gold packed with shimmer. As you can tell form the picture, I love this shade, I hit the bottom a while ago. I mainly use Eternal gold as a shadow base, to give powdered shadows something to hold to, this makes them last 10 times longer, look more radiant and adds a little shimmer at the same time.

40 - Permanent Taupe  is a matte plumb toned grey-ish taupe colour. I find that the consistency of this shade is a little thicker and less easy to work with, I think this is due to it being matte, where the others I've tried are simmers. However with patient blending it's a gorgeous smokey colour, great for a night out paired with thick winged liner and a great brow highlight! I often use Eternal Gold alone, often in combination with 40 - Permanent Taupe in the crease and outer corners to create a gorgeously smooth and glam smokey eye. When doing this I will apply Permanent Taupe with a small pencil brush before belending.

65 - Pink Gold  is such a gorgoeus rosey pink shimmer. I like to smudge Pink Gold across my lid using my fingers and then pack on LOOK BEAUTY - Cami powdered shadow (reviewed here) for a gorgeous subtle pink look which is great for everyday!

40 - Permanent Taupe   05 - Eternal Gold   65 - Pink Gold

I find the Maybelline  24 hour Color Tattoos have a great staying power, with and without a powder on top. But I wouldn't agree with the 24 hours part, but they do last all day, so maybe 12 hour color tattoo would be more apt.

What's your favourite color tattoo shade?
Hope you're all having a lovely day!

Look Beauty: Statement Eyes eyeshadow: Cami

Look Beauty: Statement Eyes eyeshadow: Cami

Look Beauty is a brand that I've not seen reviewed much, this is perhaps (to my best knowlege) is because it's relatively new to Superdrug stores in the UK. The display appeared in my local store around September 2012, host a whole range of products, from nail polish to concealer designed and approved by the lovely people at LOOK magazine.

However what caught my eye was their gorgeous range of eye shadows. These single eye shadows are £4 each and known as 'Statement Eyes' single eye shadows. The one that particularly caught my eye is Cami. A beautiful champagne pink, with  gorgeous warm gold undertones, picture MAC Naked Lunch with a hint of MAC All that glitters!

The consistency of this product is beautiful, it's a rich soft powder shadow, much like the constancy of the Urban Decay shadows, which retail for a whole more! The shadow easily smudges on the lid for a natural and shimmery look. I use this shadow over Maybelline 24 Hour Colour tattoo as a base, and it stays put for well over 12hours!

However, I do find the clear acrylic packaging to look a bit cheap and hard to keep clean, but you get a big pan, so I guess it's not the end of the world! Also due to the shadow's soft formulation, there is a tad bit of fall out on application. But not enough to cry about, so this gets a big thumbs up for me! And for the price, I'm gunna try out some more shades!

Have you tried any Look Beauty product? How do they perform?

Good Things: Bright Eyes - Eye Cream: A Review

Good Thinks: Bright Eyes - Eye Cream: A Review

Being a student life often includes; long nights, long hours studying staring at a computer screen. This all contribues to puffy dark circles under the eyes. Now in my third year, I am really starting to notice dark circles, like I never really did before. So on a whim I picked up this little tube in Boots and decided to give it a whirl.

Bright eyes - Eye cream contains superfruits extracts including Raspberry and Lychee.

Raspberry: Packed with magnesium and other mins and vits including Vit C,B, Folic Acid, Citric acid, Raspberries are a cocktail of goodies for your skin, working to improve the skins elasticity as well as lightening and brighting! Raspberries are even perfect for oily skin, as the high concentration of natural acids work to normalize skin secretion to balance oily skin!  Also, incredible antioxidants reduce sun damage and improving age spots!  Raspberries are not only great to eat, but a treat for the skin too!

Lychee: Like Raspberries, Lychee contains a bunch of antioxidants and vitamin C to improve pigmentation and lighten and brighten the complexion! Lychee works by moisturising the skin, to create a youthful hydrated glow, over coming dryness and even wrinkles!

I must tell you, this tiny bottle of fruit cocktail does exactly what it says on the tin. I've been using the product twice a day, morning and night, for over 3 months now! And I can definitely see the improvement  My dark Circles have brightened considerably, they havent completely gone, but there is such an improvement to the colour and brightness under my eyes. I have to look carefully to notice the dark circles now!  Brilliant!

There's been a few time over the 3months I've been testing this product where I've forgotten or just been too lazy to apply the cream. And I must say, I really noticed the next day when I didn't apply the day before! Really Shows it works!

The only down point of this product would be the smell for me, as it's full of fruity ingredients, the smell follows suit, and was a little bit over whelming to be applying so close to the eyes at first. I soon got used to the smell though, and now it doesn't bother me. But if you have ultra sensitive eyes, this might not be ideal for you.

Apart from that I definitely recommend!

The Body Shop: Almond Hand & Nail Cream: A Review

The Body Shop: Almond Hand & Nail Cream: A Review

As you get older, it's no secret that your hands can show the first tell tail signs of ageing! So it's important to keep them happy and healthy, especially during these cold winter months! The best way to prevent these early signs of ageing is keeping your mitts soft and hydrated. So I carry hand cream with me everywhere and apply copious amounts during the day! So needless to say, I go though hand creams like hot dinners! Which can be a rather expensive habit!

A Couple of weeks before Christmas, The body shop had a promotion on their hand creams. Offering the larger 100ml tube for £5, rather than the usual £10. Obviously I couldn't resist and nabbed a tube.

Firstly, I love the packaging of The Body Shop's hand cream. I know it's not to everyone's taste, but I the metal toothpaste-shaped-tube extremely tactile and nice to hold. It also allows you to squeeze out every drop of prodcut!

Their hand cream comes in a range of scents and ingredients, the one I chose was the Almond hand & nail one which is suitable of all skin types. Simply, I chose it cause it smelt the best; sweet, rich and creamy. Although the hand cream worked just fine to keep my hands hydrated and soft, I wasn't that 'wow-ed' by its performance. The formulation is a little thin and leaves a irritating greasy residue on my hands.

I am yet to try the other hand creams, as I do on the whole love The Body Shop Products. But I certainly wont be in a hurry to repurchase this one.

NOTD: Barry M Nail Paint: Pink Silver Glitter

NOTD: Barry M Nail Paint: Pink Silver Glitter

Today I'm heading out for lunch with a group of my favourite girls, whom I grew up with. So in anticipation of a girlie day of catching up and copious amounts of giggling, I chose a nail polish to match the occasion.

This bubbly girlie polish, Is part of the Glitter polish range by Barry M. Pink Silver Glitter nail paint is  ram-packed with hundres of tiny tiny glitter particles in a mix of a baby pink and a silver. In the bottle, the polish appears to lean more to think pink and in some lights a mauve glitter. However once on the nails, I feel it leans far more to the silver glitter side, with a twinkling of subtle champagne pink within it.

Originally I was disappointed that the polish didn't come out more to the pink side, but having worn it a couple of times I now adore how subtle this polish is. Just catching in the light, displaying a small sparkling hue of pink.

With two coats the polish becomes opaque and with a top coat lasts about 3-5 days without chipping. Thats on my nails anyway.

And for just £2.99 from Boots. It's a Beaut.

Whats your favourite glitter polish?

Lush : Amandopondo Bubble Bar : A review

Lush : Amandopondo Bubble Bar : A Review

This little goodie was hidden in my stocking on Christmas Morning. I love recieving lush products at Christmas time, especially at my Parent's place, as they have a bath and I don't. I really get an chance to enjoy all the gorgeous bath products Lush have, which I'm usually dennied.

I had never tired Amandopondo before now, but what I like about it is it's unique scent. We're all used to the over sugary sweet scents that Lush have to offer. You can't even walk past their store without being over come by it's power. This little baby has a fresh calming scent of rose flower and lemon.

I find that to put a whole bubble bar into the tub at once is a bit wasteful. There is no need for a whole room full of bubbles, when just half, or even a quarter of the bar gives you more than enough. This bubble bar is no exception. I used just a third of the bar for my tub on Boxing day and the results we're gorgeous.

Amandopondo gives an flurry of light and soft bubbles as the bar is crumbled into hot running water. The bubbles lasted the majority of my bath time, however I'm prone to taking unreasonably long baths, so this is nothing to go on. The water remains clear, and as far as I can tell, the bar contains not shimmer or glitter. The smell is subtle and soothing, making this bar a great choice for a relaxing soak with a cup of tea and a good book.

Thanks Santa!

Wish List 2013: Part 1

Wish list 2013: Part I

It may seem a bit soon, and perhaps a little bit gluttonous  but one of the curses of reading and writing a beauty blog is that you're constantly surrounded by gorgeous beautiful things. So I've put together a little collect of the things that I've been wanting for a while to share with you.

NARS - Laguna a beauty cult favourite that appears in almost every blogger's make up collection, more often or not a staple product! I just to have never got round to buying it. I've been craving it for so long, I wear bronzer everyday , as I'm so un-humanly pale, so this is certainly on top of my shopping list in 2013!

Taylor Swift - Wonderstruck I am unashamedly die hard Taylor fan. I own every track and know them all by heart (don't judge). So this is an obvious choice for me. I don't even care what it smells like - It smells amazing by the way - I just need this in my life. And the bottle is so adorable and whimsical.

Michael Kors - Hamilton Satchel A bit of a long shot due to the hefty price tag. But this bag is to die for! The perfect every day black bag. I'll wish on a star for this one....

Ipad Mini I think this was on most people Christmas list this year. Practical  useful, portable and now smaller....a no brainer really. Simple.

Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturiser I really want to try out some new foundations this year, I've been using my MAC Studio fix fluid for years now. It's time for a change.

However.... I am a student and I really need to start saving for May, when I graduate and enter the big scary world. I think I'll be more thankful for savings than a new foundation.

What's on your list this year?

Kenzo Amour: A Review

Kenzo - Amour Fuchsia: A Review

It's always nice to receive perfume as a gift, but even more so when it's from someone who means a lot to you. I find that scents and smells bring back memories of a certain time, place or person.

Kenzo is a name I've seen and heard about, but have never actually smelt before...

Firstly the bottle, just wow. Taking on the an elegant flowing form, the bottle reminds me of a flower stalk, or even the female body. Which looks to be more of a decor piece rather than a perfume. I personally love displaying perfume bottles in my room, and I can't wait to add this to my collection when I return to Oxford. To make it even better, the colour, an exotic fuchsia colour is beautiful and girly, please note however, Kenzo Amour comes in 3 different coloured bottles (Fuchsia, orange and white), but all contain the same scent! Don't be confused like I was at first!

The scent is gorgeously likeable and powdery with a strong focus on vanilla musk notes (my favourite) combined with exciting frangipani and japanese cherry blossom flavours. All infused together making this perfume and exotic cocktail which reminds me to hot summer nights and far off places. Wearing it just makes me want to trade up this ugly English weather and jump on a plane and live on an exotic island. Whose coming?!

Next time I'm out, I'll have to take a sniff of other Kenzo scents, if they're anything like this, I'm bound to be hooked!  Have you tried any of Kenzo's perfumes?!

'Un voyage d'amour - a journey of love'  Such a special gift from someone so special.

From Mummy's Jewellery box : Vintage Earrings

From Mummy's Jewellery Box: Vintage Earrings

I love coming back to my parent's place at Christmas. With two women in the house, there's double the Make-up and double the jewellery = double the fun! I thought I would share with you one little treasure that came out of my mother's jewellery box this Christmas.

Simple but striking, these oversized earrings are simply to die for. The Stud is a rounded gold square with a large black enamel cross in the centre. These earrings caught my eye instantly and  I've worn them on several occasions this Christmas. I love how the over sized stud gives a bold statement, whilst the gold and black combo is so classic and elegant. I think they work perfectly to glam up any simple black outfit! And I am partial to a little bit of vintage! The earrings however, are rather large, so they can feel little heavy after a long period of time but that hasn't stopped me yet!

My mother first had these when she was my age, and they're honestly not that different than the styles I see in high street stores today. It shows that everything comes back into style eventually  so keep hold of thoes little gems, one day your future daughter may take a liking to them. It's the best kind of recycling!

Thanks Mum!

12 Books in a year 2012.

12 Books in a Year: 2012

Last January I decided my new years resolution was to read at least one book per month. I have always loved to read, I find that its the perfect escape from real life, where I can become someone else, somewhere entirely different. As a student it's easy to get caught up in research and course related reading, it's important for me to indulge myself with a fictional book in order to unwind and relax.

This year was great, I rediscovered my love for reading and completed my resolution by reading 12 books;

When God was a Rabbit - Sarah Winman
The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins
Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins
Divergent - Veronica Roth
50 Shades of Grey - E.L James
50 Shades Darker - E.L. James
Uglies - Scott Westerfeld
Me Before You - Jojo Moyles
Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend - Matthew Dicks
What's so Amazing about Grace? - Philip Yancey
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky

I'd of liked to of read more, but life is busy and I can only do so much. However, without a doubt I will be doing this again in 2013 and have already chosen my first victim:

Life of Pi - Yann Martel.

I'm dying to see the movie, So I'm hoping I can finish the book before it stops showing in cinemas!

What's your New Years Resolutions?
Maybe you can read 12 books this year with me?!

NOTD: Essie - Sole Mate

NOTD: Essie - Sole Mate

On my nails today, is definitely my most reached for polish this season - Sole Mate by Essie. Sole mate is a gorgeous dark wine coloured red/plumb which is perfect for this festive time of year.

The photos show Sole mate after one coat and no top coat. I love how Essie polishes go on so smooth and never streak, it's worth paying that extra bit more, although some times my bank balance doesn't seem to agree :(. You can see a little of the white tips peaking through the polish, but with a second coat the polish becomes completely opaque, but with a much darker appearance.

I think it's perfect winter red nail, adding a bit of drama and glamour to any outfit. It also looks gorgeous with a glittery top coat :).

Clinique - 7 Day Scrub Cream

Clinique - 7 Day Scrub Cream
Happy New Year everyone, out with the old and in with the new, literally. What better way to start 2013, than with a beautifully clear and soft complexion.

Clinique 7 day scrub cream, rinse off formula, is one of my favourite products, EVER. This exfoliator has been a staple in my skin care routine for over two years now. I use other exfoliators on a daily basis as this product is designed to only be used weekly - every 7 days, as the name would suggest. I tend to use it every 7-10 days, or when I feel my skin needs a little TLC.

The formulation is a this white cream with dozens of spherical grains suspended within it. I  seem to remember the girl at the counter explained that it's the regular size and shape of the grains which makes it work so well in sloughing off those dead cells.

A little goes a long way, so you only need about a 20p sized dollop, which is great as one bottle lasts FOREVER! The product is massaged of the face in circular motions, as it melts and worked over the skin the cream turns clear, and it's even suitable for the lips which is amazing.

After a good scrub, rinse the cream off with warm water and voila! A smooth, Bright complexion which has been nourished in the process. Leaving your face looking fresher, cleaner and brighter. The results are amazing, and it make such a difference , especially in the application of foundation and even improves the staying power.

Another bonus is that over time, I've noticed the product improving the appearance of acne scaring and pigmentation on my cheeks especially  I must advise though, don't use the product too often (less that 7 days apart), as the skin should be allowed to rejuvenate, so to avoid damage.
